Hello, I am Ethan. This is my “unofficial” introduction.

Personal

  • I am currently a PhD student. My research focus is mobile computing, wireless & acoustic sensing and IoT. Honestly, it is not the hottest topic right now (not even close), but we try to make the “practical” contributions (who cares). To know more about my research, you can visit my research homepage.   • But never ask me when I will graduate. Honestly, I do not know either.
  • I was born in Nanjing, a beautiful and historic city in P.R.China.
  • I now live in Shenzhen basically, a vibrant city near Hong Kong. I am happy to share my thoughts of moving from Hong Kong to Shenzhen.
  • Seems I know a little about everything, but frankly I am not really proficient.
  • Yet I am eager to learn new and intriguing things.
  • I am a “web crawler” who surfs vast amount of information online.
  • I have good memory and I can recognize faces, numbers and images clearly. Do not be surprised when I call your name.
  • I am open to make new friends any time.
  • And I am willing to help others. I enjoy it.
  • I like designs that are simple yet rich in technological feel.
  • I suspect I may have ADHD, or at least exhibit a significant number of its symptoms.
  • My MBTI ranges from ESFJ to INFP. Well, I am not sure what I am when you meet me.
  • While I am pessimistic about the current, I am more idealistic about the future. Well, life sucks, but we have to keep going.
  • I try to be a long-termist. I know it is hard for me.
  • I never stop my pursuit for freedom, as I believe it is valuable and rare.

Hobbies

  • I am fan for travelling. I have been to many cities in China and some other countries. I love to explore the world and learn different cultures.
  • I wear earphones most of the time. I love listening to music.
  • I am not so good at sports, but I swim, jog, hike and play badminton sometimes.
  • I have broad interest in TV and movies, especially comedy, sci-fi, suspense, politics, etc.
  • I am a very big fan for transportation. I love to watch the videos about the trains, planes, cars, etc. I also love to play the simulation games about transportation. I love planning the routes and schedule public transportation.
  • I also played Go when I was young. I am 4-dan in the Chinese Go Association. I love the game and I love the philosophy behind it. I have not played it for a long time, but I watch the games and videos sometimes.
  • I’ve recently become eager to learn photography. Feel free to contact me if you have any insights or tips to share.
